Genevieve O’Brien is a soprano from Brisbane, Queensland. She holds Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where she studied classical voice under the tutelage of Head of Voice, Margaret Schindler.

In 2012, Genevieve was selected as a Young Ambassador for Opera Queensland for 2012/2013, a role which encompassed representing and promoting Opera Queensland to young audience. This involved meetings with industry representatives and attendance at productions, programs and promotional events.
Genevieve was recipient of the 2012 Senior Vocal Championship at the Sunshine Coast Eisteddfod. She participated in the Queensland Singing Eisteddfod in 2014 and received a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.
The Sunshine Coast Council regularly employ Genevieve’s services at major community events including performing at Carols on Kings, Cotton Tree Carols and Opera on Kings, sometimes to crowds of over 10 000 people. She has been invited by the Sunshine Coast Council to sing the National Anthem at multiple Sunshine Coast Australian Citizenship Ceremonies. Genevieve is a valued member of The Brisbane City Opera company and regularly performs at concerts around Brisbane City.
Since attending the Queensland Conservatorium, she have been involved in the Chorus for their production of Janacek’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen, and has been selected for chorus roles in the Queensland Conservatorium’s productions of Monteverdi’s opera L’incoronazione di Poppea and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. In 2016 Genevieve made her debut role as “Second Spirit” in the Queensland Conservatorium’s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
Genevieve recently completed the globally renowned James Cuskelly Summer Music Program. The program included lessons with acclaimed classical vocal teachers Joseph Ward O.B.E., Shaun Brown, Margaret Schindler and Graham Godfrey, as well as renowned accompanists and conductors Richard Lewis, Raymond Lawrence and John Woods. Genevieve was fortunate enough to work with director Jordin Steele and globally distinguished Australian-born soprano, voice coach and author Janice Chapman. Genevieve was chosen to perform in a Master Class with Janice Chapman.
